About Us

"How should a man be capable of grooming his own horse, or of furbishing his own spear and helmet, if he allows himself to become unaccustomed to tending even his own person, which is his most treasured belonging?"

Here at Black Ship Grooming Co., We believe that you shouldn't dread shaving. Kelly HoganWe think just the opposite, you should actually look forward to it. We see shaving as a journey that should be enjoyed and reveled in. The Owner, Kelly Hogan, started out with a shaving brush. The hobby was a way to relieve the everyday stress of being a Police officer. what started out as a hobby turned into a real passion.

We strive to passionately make some of the finest handmade shaving supplies you can buy. We feel that the old-fashioned way of making things is still alive. We make all of our supplies one at a time! Doing this allows us to make handcrafted quality that is lost on current machine made products. We feel that you're worth the extra effort.

We think that you want something that is different from everyone else. You are unique and so should the items you have in your life. Shaving hardware and software shouldn't be boring or carbon copies. With that in mind, we craft each and every handmade razor, brush, shaving soap, pre-shave oil and aftershave with you specifically in mind. We strive to make heirloom quality products, so you can hand it down to your sons or daughters to start a tradition of wet shaving with them.

Now you may be asking yourself, Why the pirates? All of us have a little pirate in us, pirates were bold adventurers. They didn't follow the masses. They were strong men that carved out their own path. They didn't like the life they were forced to live, they wanted better for themselves. We feel that you want that too.  We choose to shave like men did when men were strong, bold and dapper. Carve your difference and feel the difference.

Shave differently, shave proudly, shave comfortably! We invite you to set sail with our fine band of pirates and stay ship shape.
